ROUGH SHOOTING
The rough shooting is the most traditional and most popular small game hunting among the Spanish hunters. In fact, either in the old days or even nowadays, this kind of hunt was practiced very often in the rural areas to get some meat to eat and, in consequence, the traditional Spanish cuisine holds lots of recipes based on birds. Today, the necessity is not the same and this hunt turned into a good opportunity to meet other fellow hunters and enjoy a day in the countryside.
THE HUNT
The rough shooting (also called walked-up shooting) is the most traditional way of hunting the small game. On it, just a pointing dog is needed to make the birds fly and shooting them once in the sky. This hunt is usually organized in large hunting areas where a very specific management is made in order to provide the highest number of opportunities to the hunters to harvest their quota. Partridges, pheasants, doves, quails, rabbits or hares are the most common species to be hunted on this modality where a good pointing dog is necessary. In fact, only watching a pointing dog performing during a hunting day worths all the work done.
THE HUNTING AREA
We organize this hunt in a few areas located around Toledo, which is the most popular region for all kind of small game. These places are normally large and undulated and accessible to any hunter with any condition, so this hunt faces only two challenges: a good performance of the pointing dog and good shooting skills from the hunter.
The accommodation is typically offered in hotels located nearby the areas, in order to avoid long drives but also taking advantage of the nice sightseeing opportunities found in Toledo town.
