PYRENEAN CHAMOIS
The Pyrenean Chamois is found in the Pyrenees, which is the physical border between Spain and France. It constitutes a natural barrier separating both countries, whose consequences are also found in the nature giving different climates or different species to the rest of Europe. This limit made two different Chamois in Spain: the Pyrenean and the Cantabrian. When comparing both of them, we note that the first one clearly is bigger than the second one, as it can reach up to 40 kg. (90 lb.), which is about a 30% bigger than the Cantabrian. By other hand, the horns are also thicker and normally some longer. This statement is well represented when scoring both species. In this way, a regular medal Cantabrian Chamois in CIC scale is just a representative Pyrenean Chamois trophy.

THE HUNT
Before going after the Pyrenean Chamois, it is important to know some facts about this hunt. It is important to note their complete adaptation to the rocky terrain and cold mountains, their extreme agility even in the snow, and their fine senses, specially the sight and the hearing. However, despite of their extremely good conditions to be a very difficult prey, they are also very active even during the day, so joined to the fact that in wintertime they use to inhabit lower altitudes, the hunter finds a reason to try this difficult hunt.

THE HUNTING AREA
We hunt in both sides of the Pyrenees (Spain and France), being in both cases extraordinary areas for this hunt. Indeed, if you like mountain hunting, you shouldn’t miss this chance as this hunt has it all: difficult trophy, demanding terrain, long shots and beautiful views. In both cases, we count on areas with large populations of Chamois, being even possible to have several chances a day. We really trust on our areas, although the weather can be our worst enemy. In deep winter season, the temperatures tend to be under 0ºC (< 32ºF), and the snow is usual so, if we add also some wind, the temperature feeling can be some extreme.
